Update on Jacobs Rocket Race

Unfortunately I was not able to go to Jacob's scout race because I had to work but Diana went and she said he did very well! Maybe not as well as he would like, he got 4th place and a "Certificate of Participation", but he said he had a blast and that's all that counts! We didn't get any pictures but in the future we will take some pictures of his scouting functions and post them for you all to see! Just wanted to keep you up to date and let you know we Love and miss you all!

Attention all family members....we are in need of a response to let us know that someone is actually looking at this website. Please either click on "comments" and make one or follow my steps written on this website on how to write a blog. I'm beginning to think nobody is looking at this! Doesn't have to be a novel...just some comments on pictures or writings would be nice. If you have time please write...thank you.

Jacob's Rocket Project for Boy Scouts

So Jake had a project to do for Boy Scouts.....build a rocket. Sounds simple enough...wrong! Now I've built the cars before and I've seen the boats before but I have never even seen a rocket. The box looks simple enough and then you open it up and see the directions...or at least what THEY call directions. Very poor....they jump around...the only pictures are very poorly drawn sketches. So they give you these two blocks of wood and you have to glue them together. After the glue is dry you have to sand the block into the shape you want...no knifes allowed. So after 3 hours of sanding Jake and I agreed that the sanding was done and that's the shape he wanted. Next step...paint. We put three coats of paint (Same color paint as his car from last year) which by the time they dried and repainted, dried and repainted it took another 3 hours. Next comes the cutting of the wings. Now the wings are much smaller than the ones shown on the box. So after cutting the grooves in the wood for the wings you have to glue them in place. All of it up to this point was not too bad. Stickers and painting the cockpit...not too bad. Now comes the part where you have to adjust the propeller.....decide if you need 1,2,3 or 4 rubberbands to turn the propeller.....bad. I ended up cutting one of the wires too short and had to go to Lowes to get more...but they didn't have the same size so I had to improvise. Well...anyways it's done. I hope it's right. They have to be turned in tonight and the race is tomorrow night. I wish I could see some other rockets to see if I'm doing it right but I can't so cross your fingers I got it right. You have to wind up the rubberbands approx. 150 turns each time you race. I rigged up something that attatches to the rubberbands and then to the cordless drill and I wind it up that way....much quicker! Well....wish us (Jake) luck tomorrow night and we'll give an update on how he did and hopefully have pictures too.

This picture was taken in American Fork Canyon on the Alpine Loop Trail. There are so many things to see that your not sure which way to turn your head. Not far from here is where I saw the moose the other morning. I sure wish we had more visitors to show these sights to! We can't wait until Thanksgiving when Boyd, Della, Tiffany & Taylor are coming out. It will be nice to see family again. As always we miss everyone and Love ya.

The Paradox of our time in history is that we have taller buildings but shorter tempers, wider freeways, narrower viewpoints. We spend more, but have less; we buy more, but enjoy less. We have multiplied our possessions, but reduced our values. We talk too much, love too seldom, and hate too often.We’ve learned how to make a living, but not a life. We’ve added years to life not life to years.We have been all the way to the moon and back but have trouble crossing the street to meet a new neighbor.
We conquered outer space but not inner space. We’ve done larger things, but not better things. We’ve cleaned up the air, but polluted the soul. We’ve conquered the atom, but not our prejudice.We write more, but learn less. We plan more, but accomplish less. We’ve learned to rush, but not to wait. We build more computers to store more information, to produce more copies then ever, but we communicate less and less.These are the times of fast foods and slow digestion, big men and small character, steep profits and shallow relationships.
These are the days of two incomes but more divorce, fancier houses, but broken homes. These are the days of quick trips, disposable diapers, throwaway morality, one night stands, overweight bodies and pills that do everything from cheer, to quiet to kill.
It is a time when there is much in the show room window and nothing in the stock room. A time when technology can bring you this letter and a time when you can choose either to share this insight or just hit delete.
Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breaths away.

Friday Morning Road Trip Pictures

Friday morning I went for a ride to Spanish Fork Canyon with a couple of guys I work with. One of the guys, Aaron, has lived here his whole life and Jason and I had just moved here recently so he wanted to show us around. It turned out to be a great morning. I got some beautiful mountain and waterfall pictures. While driving near to top of the mountain we rounded the corner and came across four moose in the road! I apologize for the blurry pictures but they were taken quickly through the windshield of the truck before the moose disappeared. I found out today it is moose hunting season and that your only allowed to hunt for moose 1 time in your life....that's it. Just thought someone might like to know that. Anyways...hope you enjoy the pictures and hope to hear from SOMEONE SOON. Bye as always....Love and miss you all.
